First Light is A Center for Homeless Women and Children located in the heart of downtown Birmingham. It offers the only 24-hour emergency shelter for homeless women and homeless women with children in the area.
In addition to meeting the basic needs of our guests, we offer:
- Individualized case management
- A variety of activities, both fun and informational
- Three permanent housing programs
- Most of all, a place of acceptance where guests can begin to regain dignity, hope and independence
