Project Healthy Minds is the term used to describe the overall supportive care offered to First Light's guests to help them on their road to independence. Because of Project Healthy Minds, all First Light guests have the opportunity to:
-
Meet with their assigned Social Worker on a regular basis to discuss needs, goals and progress
-
Get a Continuum ID which gains them access to numerous social services throughout the community
-
Receive referrals to mental health care agencies, physical health care agencies, clothes closets, the Food Stamp Office, dental care agencies, the Disability Determination Service, and affordable housing programs
-
Attend any or all of the group therapies offered by First Light staff- Life Skills classes, Group Therapy, Movie Therapy and Art Therapy
-
Receive transportation assistance to go to doctor's appointments, job interviews and food stamp appointments when no other income is available
-
Receive medication assistance when no other programs are accessible for purchasing the prescription
The goal of Project Healthy Minds is to meet the guests' immediate needs while preparing them for living on their own again.
